In 2013, the Dominican Republic exported 20,000 tons of avocados. The country is now the world’s third largest avocado exporter after Mexico and Chile. <\/p>\n

A recent RD$32 million government loan to the San Cristobal Avocado Growers Cooperative has made producers in the southwest even more optimistic. As reported, in Cambita Garabito, almost 50% of the population is involved in avocado related enterprises in some way or another. <\/p>\n
