President Hipolito Mejia disputed the audit&#8217;s findings from the campaign trail on Saturday in Dajabon. President Mejia was a guest on the &#8220;El Gobierno de la Manana&#8221; radio talk show and called the findings &#8220;garbage and captious&#8221; (disparate y capcioso). The President revealed on the air that he had given instructions to the directors of the Plan Renove program to send those behind the audit to justice. <\/p>\n<p> In an unusual statement for the usually-reserved controller of the Mejia administration, Lalane Jose said that the audit fulfilled all legal requirements, is correct and was sent to President Mejia. The audit revealed clear irregularities in the handling of public funds in connection with the operations of Plan Renove from 1 January 2002 to 12 April 2003, and showed irregularities in the purchasing, assignment and debt administration, as well as in the general management of the million-peso transport assistance program.
