This is due to the fact that the Superintendence of Power authorized the losses suffered by the power distribution companies in the face of the peso&#8217;s depreciation to be passed on to consumers. Users who in December would have paid RD$4.61 per kilo, in March will pay RD$8.76 per kilo. One person called El Nacional to report that last month&#8217;s power invoice was for RD$6,628.32 and the most recent one for a total of RD$11,761.60. SIE Resolution 12-2004, dated 1 March, carries the increase. Power Superintendent George Reinoso established that those consuming 300 megawatts or less, who in September 2002 paid RD$2.35 per kilowatt, will now pay RD$7 per kilowatt. Those consuming 301 to 1,000 kilowatts, who in September 2002 paid RD$2.90, will now pay RD$8.65 per kilowatt.
