According to news reports from Europe, a tourist returning to France from the Dominican Republic on 31 March 2015 was questioned when a bag checked in his name was found to contain 46lbs (21kg) of cocaine. After questioning, Police were satisfied that his name had been fraudulently used on the bag that didn’t belong to him. <\/p>\n
The drugs had a street value of more than EUR1.3 million. The suitcase had been abandoned on the baggage carousel. <\/p>\n
As reported, investigators say that smugglers in the Dominican Republic filled the suitcase with cocaine and used the tourist’s identity in an attempt to sneak the drugs into France through Nice Cote d’Azur International Airport.<\/p>\n
Investigations are ongoing to find out who packed the bag and how it wound up on the transatlantic flight.<\/p>\n
