{"id":65956,"date":"2015-04-08T01:43:56","date_gmt":"2015-04-08T01:43:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dr1.com\/new\/pages\/caribbean-gdp-growth-forecast-at-1-9-dr-at-5\/"},"modified":"2015-04-08T01:43:56","modified_gmt":"2015-04-08T01:43:56","slug":"caribbean-gdp-growth-forecast-at-1-9-dr-at-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dr1.com\/news\/2015\/04\/08\/caribbean-gdp-growth-forecast-at-1-9-dr-at-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Caribbean GDP growth forecast at 1.9%, DR at 5%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> In its latest forecasts, the United Nations&#8217; Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) estimates economic growth in the Dominican Republic will be 5%, much higher than the regional growth rate of 1%, 3.2% for Mexico and Central America, and 1.9% for the Caribbean. <\/p>\n<p> ECLAC reports that countries that will lead the region&#8217;s expansion during 2015 will be Panama, with a 6% increase in its GDP, Antigua and Barbuda (5.4%), and Bolivia, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic (5%). ECLAC adds that the higher growth rates are in part due to country greater links to the recovering US economy, and one to these countries benefiting from lower crude prices. <\/p>\n<p> ECLAC says there will be less economic dynamism than what was expected at the end of 2014, with a deceleration of emerging economies.
