For Medina to run, the 2010 Constitution needs to be changed. <\/p>\n<p> As reported in El Caribe, the PLD Political Committee approved the plan presented by member Ramon Ventura Camejo. The motion, which was presented to former President Leonel Fernandez on 9 September 2014, establishes the adoption of the US election model that limits the election of a President to two consecutive terms. The current model allows for unlimited non-consecutive re-election. <\/p>\n<p> The Ventura proposal says that the motion should be preceded by a referendum vote organized by the Central Electoral Board (JCE), according to Article 272 of the Constitution.
