The 1-5 July 2015 poll carried out by Gallup-Hoy newspaper reveals that the three most important concerns for Dominicans are crime, inflation and unemployment. Of the respondents to the poll (who are registered voters), 66.9% consider crime as the leading problem affecting the Dominican Republic, followed by inflation, with 43.9% and lack of jobs by 37.4%. The poll shows there was a slight increase in the public’s perception of crime as a major problem compared to 2015. At that time, 65% of Dominicans eligible to vote considered that crime was among the top challenges facing the country, 54% mentioned inflation and 39.4% unemployment. <\/p>\n
