President Danilo Medina inaugurated several projects in the southwestern provinces of Elias Pina and San Juan yesterday, Tuesday 1 September 2015. The inauguration event that was celebrated in Comendador municipality included two nursery schools, a primary school and a housing project. <\/p>\n
In Elias Pina province he handed over the Comendador nursery school, which will cater for 226 children. Local parents will also receive healthcare, nutrition and parenting courses. The government is building another nursery in Hondo Valle. <\/p>\n
The President also inaugurated the Los Puellos primary school, for 175 children, which will offer the extended school day program.<\/p>\n
Speaking during the ceremony, Public Works Minister Gonzalo Castillo announced that work would be starting on Monday 21 September to build two bridges over the River Cana, in Hondo Valle and El Llano on the President’s instructions.<\/p>\n
The President also inaugurated a 16 two-bedroom apartment project. <\/p>\n
National Housing Institute director Alma Fernandez said that they are currently building 1,200 housing units in the 14 poorest municipalities in the country. <\/p>\n
In San Juan province, the President inaugurated a nursery for children from the ages of 0 to five in Las Matas de Farfan, benefitting 1,439 families both directly and via the social and community networks.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, 1 September 2015, President Medina was in Constanza for opening of the an elementary school, two high schools and a primary care center. <\/p>\n
