{"id":67756,"date":"2015-09-16T19:18:02","date_gmt":"2015-09-16T19:18:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dr1.com\/new\/?p=67756"},"modified":"2015-09-16T19:18:02","modified_gmt":"2015-09-16T19:18:02","slug":"president-medina-inaugurates-chicken-factory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dr1.com\/news\/2015\/09\/16\/president-medina-inaugurates-chicken-factory\/","title":{"rendered":"President Medina inaugurates chicken factory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> On Tuesday, 15 September 2015, President Danilo Medina attended an inauguration ceremony for a broiler chicken facility owned by Pollos Cibao and located in Guayacanes in the southeastern province of San Pedro de Macoris.<\/p>\n<p> The facility, which will allow for year-round production, has been in operation for two years now. <\/p>\n<p> Company president Andres Villasmil said that over RD$300 million has been invested in the facility that has a controlled environment, reducing the chicken mortality rate from 30% to just 2%.  The plant can produce 2.4 million chickens a year to satisfy 33% of the local market. Chickens take 36 days to reach a weight of four and a half pounds.
