PRM Presidential candidate Luis Abinader presented a series of proposals aimed at reducing government bureaucracy yesterday, Wednesday 28 October 2015. As part of his government’s economic program he proposes zero bureaucracy that would be backed by a series of bills that would need to pass in Congress. <\/p>\n
“Red tape, the lack of transparency, trafficking of influence are very serious obstacles for the development of business initiatives and private investment in our country,” he stated. Abinader said he would be proposing laws to cut red tape in creation of companies and operation permits. They will include one for “Administrative Silence,” a bill that states that if the government agency has not given a reply in 30 days, the request is automatically approved. He also favors a bill for judicial stability that provides a guarantee that the rules of the game under which an investment is made will not be changed. In addition, Abinader is proposing the opening of a one-stop shop for foreign investment with a virtual system combining the Intellectual Property Office (Onapi), chambers of commerce, with the tax agency (DGII) for processing of paperwork to start a business. The aim is for a company to be in operation in 72 hours. <\/p>\n
