This toll is far higher than deaths from any disease or illness. Representatives of the vehicle insurance sector expressed their concern over the staggering numbers yesterday, Thursday 11 November 2015. <\/p>\n<p> Automotive Center (CAA) president Juan Osiris Mota pointed out that in addition to the fatalities, thousands of people are injured in road accidents. He told reporters from 7 Dias that many young people are being incapacitated as a result. <\/p>\n<p> &#8220;We are worrying a lot about dengue but traffic accidents are killing many more people in this country than any disease that I know of,&#8221; he said. <\/p>\n<p> Mota called for a stronger application of Traffic Law 241 and a greater awareness on the part of drivers. CAA general manager Luis Torres says that traffic accidents cost the government RD$50 billion every year.<\/p>\n<p> The CAA is similar to the AAA in the United States.
