The US$40 million investment in La Vega, with easy access from the Duarte Highway, will employ 600 workers at the plant, as well as creating another 2,000 indirect jobs.<\/p>\n<p> Commercial director Jorge Ruiz told journalists that most of the investors are pig producers. <\/p>\n<p> The plant has the capacity to slaughter 1,000 pigs in eight hours and will produce all the by-products, from sausages to cured meats and fresh pork products.
