Two local TV talk shows (broadcast on Channel 11 and Telesistema) raised a sum of RD$23 million to rebuild the homes of 200 flood victims in the Jimani disaster area. ?El Dia? and ?De Medio a Medio,? produced by journalist Huchi Lora, launched the campaign titled ?A Little House for Jimani,? receiving on the first day alone enough donations to build 120 homes. On a second round on Monday, they had reached their goal of 200 homes by 9am. The dwellings will be made of blocks with cement floors, zinc roofs and pine-wood doors. They will have electricity and plumbing installations. Each will have two bedrooms, a dining-room living room, kitchen and bathroom with shower, toilet and sink. <\/p>\n
Lora explained that the dwellings will be built at that cost because they have also received numerous donations of bocks, steel rods, zinc, paint and other building materials. <\/p>\n
