The National District local government has announced that this evening’s scheduled opening of the light spectacular “Sparkling Christmas” has been delayed due to the weather. The opening of the city park show has been postponed and will now be held this Friday, 4 December 2015, with the inauguration from 4 to 6pm.<\/p>\n
Now in its third year, the spectacle will be open to the public until 7 January 2016. More than three million people are expected to visit. <\/p>\n
The local authority says that 300 police officers and Metropolitan Transport Authority (Amet) agents will be on patrol during the time the event is open. <\/p>\n
Local residents are opposed to the event, saying that it creates chaos in the neighborhood because of the lack of adequate parking in the area. <\/p>\n
