After strong media pressure and a protest headed by leading members of the Fuerza Nacional Progresista (FNP) party – including presidential candidate Pelegrin Castillo – the Medina administration has entrusted the Office of Supervisory Works of the Presidency (OISOE) to complete the remodeling of the House of Duarte, the nation’s founding father. <\/p>\n
A budget of RD$30 million has been assigned and OISOE director Francisco Pagan says that the restoration work, which has been on hold for three years, will be completed in three months. <\/p>\n
Pagan made the announcement yesterday, Thursday 3 December 2015 during a press conference at the Instituto Duartiano, accompanied by its president Jose Perez Savinon. <\/p>\n
The house-museum is on Calle Isabel La Catolica in Santo Domingo’s Colonial City. <\/p>\n
