Dominican moviemakers have a good thing going. National audiences love their comedies. As reported, the Dominican movie “Tuberculo gourmet” showing at movie theaters nationwide has already been seen by 400,000 viewers and has reaped RD$70 million in sales. This makes it the 2015 release with the highest audience figures, including foreign films such as Star Wars, Jurassic World and Avengers. <\/p>\n
No Dominican movie had reached the 400,000-moviegoer mark since Lotoman 2.0 in 2012. <\/p>\n
This is also a new record for the producers who in 2014 scored the hit “Vamos de robo” with 367,840 tickets sold. <\/p>\n
The movie is showing at both Caribbean Cinemas and Palacio del Cine movie theater chains. <\/p>\n
The comedy, directed by Archie Lopez and starring Dominican comic duo Raymond Pozo and Miguel Cespedes, tells the story of two buddies who live in the countryside and after having a row over a goat meet again 20 years later and try to prevent the budding friendship between their children. <\/p>\n
