{"id":71372,"date":"2016-02-02T20:17:38","date_gmt":"2016-02-02T20:17:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dr1.com\/new\/?p=71372"},"modified":"2016-02-02T20:17:38","modified_gmt":"2016-02-02T20:17:38","slug":"two-docks-planned-to-connect-east-and-north","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dr1.com\/news\/2016\/02\/02\/two-docks-planned-to-connect-east-and-north\/","title":{"rendered":"Two docks planned to connect east and north"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Public Works has announced government plans to start building two docks in Sabana de la Mar and Samana to link the north and eastern tourism regions. <\/p>\n<p>The dock in Sabana de la Mar will enable visitors to tour Los Haitises National Park, before continuing to the north shore of the Samana Bay and the beaches and nature excursions in Samana province. <\/p>\n<p>The ferry, which will be used for transporting both passengers and vehicles, will be operated by Fiduciaria RDVial with the supervision of the Dominican Navy. <\/p>\n<p>The Ministry says that this will complete the circuit around the island. Once visitors arrive in Samana, they can connect to Nagua, Cabrera, Rio San Juan, Gaspar Hernandez, Cabarete, Sosua and Puerto Plata. <\/p>\n<p>On a TV interview with Miguel Guerrero on El Despertador by Channel 9, Colorvision, Minister Gonzalo Castillo also announced that construction work would continue on the Maimon-Puerto Plata road expansion, making it easier for visitors from the new Carnival Amber Cove cruise ship port in Maimon to reach north coast attractions. <\/p>\n<p>The minister added that completion of the north coast highway should take 12 to 18 months, and the work will be carried out in sections to minimize disruption to traffic.
