The Benenson Strategy Group poll found that if the election were held today, President Danilo Medina of the ruling PLD would win with 66% of the votes to 26% for Luis Abinader of the PRM. The poll revealed that 8 out of every 10 eligible voters believe that President Medina will win his re-election bid. 59% of respondents expressed a positive opinion of the direction in which the country is headed. 86% of those polled said that Medina is governing well. 36% said they favored a change of government. The poll was carried out from 30 March to 6 April and 1,013 people were polled. The poll also showed that Guillermo Moreno of AlPais would receive 3% of the vote.
