Sarasota residence in Santo Domingo. His death coincided with the 55th anniversary of the assassination yesterday, Monday 30 May 2016. <\/p>\n<p> Imbert was the only survivor of the ambush on the dictator&#8217;s car, which took place on the Malecon. He was declared a national hero and given the rank of ad-vitam general in the army. Imbert was born in Puerto Plata on 3 December 1920. <\/p>\n<p> During the April 1965 war he supported the coup against the democratically elected Juan Bosch government.
