{"id":74975,"date":"2016-06-23T15:24:17","date_gmt":"2016-06-23T15:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dr1.com\/new\/?p=74975"},"modified":"2016-06-23T15:24:17","modified_gmt":"2016-06-23T15:24:17","slug":"private-schools-complain-of-new-grading-requirements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dr1.com\/news\/2016\/06\/23\/private-schools-complain-of-new-grading-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Private schools complain of new grading requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> The Association of Private Educational Institutions (Ainep) disclosed on Wednesday 22 June 2016 that they are in disagreement with the trial implementation of a new registration and report card system that is being developed by the Ministry of Education (Minerd). <\/p>\n<p> In a press release from the Association, executive director Julia Muniz Subervi said that the group has conveyed its position in a letter sent to the Ministry&#8217;s Private Schools Department. <\/p>\n<p> In the letter, they request that member schools be able to continue using their individual grading systems that comply with Ordinance 1-96 on evaluation systems at the pre-school, primary, secondary, special education and adult levels, which is still in effect.  <\/p>\n<p> The Association said: &#8220;We believe that a new evaluation model should be validated, reviewed and formalized before being adopted. Once those processes have been concluded it will be essential to implement a comprehensive training program to ensure that staff can effectively handle the new methodology. <\/p>\n<p> The association told the Ministry that its members would abstain from using and implementing the new evaluation system this year. <\/p>\n<p> Readers will recall that earlier this week a spokesperson for the Dominican Teachers&#8217; Association (ADP), which represents public school teachers, also made similar comments to the Ministry, describing the new system as &#8220;tedious and extremely time-consuming.&#8221; The ADP complained that the new grading process would require an additional eight hours of work twice a year. <\/p>\n<p> http:\/\/www.diariolibre.com\/noticias\/educacion\/colegios-privados-en-desacuerdo-con-nuevo-sistema-de-registro-del-minerd-GB4113976<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Association of Private Educational Institutions (Ainep) disclosed on Wednesday 22 June 2016 that they are in disagreement with the trial implementation of a new registration and report card system that is being developed by the Ministry of Education (Minerd).
