National Geographic Society, the University of Pennsylvania and the Academy of History of the Dominican Republic presented at the National Academy of History on 5 July 2016 the results of a DNA study of Dominican genetic profile. The study to 1,000 Dominicans was carried out to determine the amount of African, European and Pre-Columbian (Taino) blood in Dominicans. It was determined that Dominicans are 49% African, 39% European and 4% Pre-Columbian (Taino). <\/p>\n
The presentation is scheduled for 8pm at the Academy of History in the Colonial City. Participating are Bernardo Vega, for the Academy of History; Miguel Vilar for National Geographic; and Robert Paulino for UNIBE university. <\/p>\n
The study is part of The Genographic Project with 779,696 participants tested in 140 countries. <\/p>\n
