The president of the Federation of Professors\u2019 Association of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (Faprouasd), Santiago Guillermo, said that the rector of the university, Iv\u00e1n Grull\u00f3n, was the enemy of the students and not the union as it was in his hands whether classes return to normal at the university.<\/p>\n
The professors have been having protests over the last 18 months demanding a salary increase of 40%, with 15% before the start of the first semester of 2017.<\/p>\n
Professors at the state university are the best paid in the country with the most accommodating benefits.<\/p>\n
