{"id":95411,"date":"2017-02-07T12:22:17","date_gmt":"2017-02-07T16:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dr1.com\/new\/?p=95411"},"modified":"2017-02-07T12:22:17","modified_gmt":"2017-02-07T16:22:17","slug":"people-doubt-those-who-took-bribes-will-be-punished","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dr1.com\/news\/2017\/02\/07\/people-doubt-those-who-took-bribes-will-be-punished\/","title":{"rendered":"People doubt those who took bribes will be punished"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-95413\" src=\"http:\/\/dr1.com\/new\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Hoy.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"259\" height=\"194\" \/>According to data from a new Gallup poll for Hoy newspaper published on 7 February 2017, a large majority of people, nearly 88%, believe that those working for the past three governments of Hip\u00f3lito Mejia, Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez and Danilo Medina benefitted from the bribes paid by the Brazilian contractor Odebrecht to gain contracts in the country and these officials will not be punished.<\/p>\n<p>Those taking part in the survey believed that the biggest benefactors were the government employees of former President Leonel Fern\u00e1ndez from 2004-2008 and 2008-2012, at 61.5%, followed by those of Medina from 2012-2017 (50.4%) and finally the employees of the government of Mej\u00eda from 2000-2004 (41.5%).<\/p>\n<p>The survey showed that barely 5.9% of those polled thought that no one in the government took bribes.<\/p>\n<p>The research revealed that 60% of the population believes that those who took the bribes will not be taken to court nor receive any punishment for their actions.
