the original home of Ramon Castellanos, located at #26, Padre Castellanos Street. Young plastic artist Ines
Tolentino served as advisor in the selection of the color for this house that was part of the nationwide pro-
gram to salvage 12 houses considered to be important parts of national architectural heritage. The building
provides a notable example of the “gingerbread” style that often characterized the Victorian epoch, with their
wood-carved trimmings and geometric or floral motifs that adorned the facades. Painted light pink, with roofs
of a darker reddish-pink hue, the Castellanos house is now a flower shop. The large tins of abundant fresh
flowers that sit on the front of the verandah underline the beauty of the house.
