US travel follows Wall Street swings

Myrna Scher, a travel agent with Travel Unlimited of New Jersey (see http://www.travelunlimited.com), and a specialist in Aruba and Dominican Republic travel says that travel had just begun to pick up after the 11 September terrorist attack but the AA587 crash has brought fear back into the equation. “Usually it takes 3-6 months after a tragic event for travel to go back to normal. I don’t think anyone knows what normal is at this point. But we usually follow the trends of the stock market and that has finally rallied somewhat since 9/11…hopefully so will travel.”
The US stock market responded favourably to the news that the AA587 crash was likely due to a mechanical failure. (15 November 2001)
