Amelia Vega, the new Cover Girl

Cover Girl Cosmetics recently announced that the current Miss Universe,
Dominican Amelia Vega, has been chosen to appear in Cover Girl print and
broadcast advertising in March 2004. Anne Martin, vice-president of global
cosmetics and marketing for Procter & Gamble, said that this was the first time
a Latina beauty would join the roster of Cover Girl models. Vega, a crowd
favorite during the 2003 Miss Universe competition, is a statuesque 19-year-old
native of Santiago, Dominican Republic. Her remarkable energy and vivacious
nature won over the judges during the live NBC telecast from Panama City,
Panama. She will work as a goodwill ambassador for women around the world by
representing the Miss Universe Organization. Cover Girl is one of the
best-selling mass-market cosmetic brands in the US, having also helped launch
numerous modeling careers. The Cover Girl brand has been linked to many famous
faces, such as Cheryl Tiegs, Christie Brinkley, Tyra Banks and Niki Taylor.
