The longest weekend of the year will probably be the Three Kings Day holiday. Three Kings Day actually falls on Friday, 6 January, but the Ministry of Labor has set its celebration for Monday, 9 January. As Dominicans will still be recovering from partying on 1 January, many who can to take time off from Thursday, 5 January are not likely to get back to work until Tuesday, 10 January. Some universities reopen in the first week of January, but most elementary and high schools don’t resume until Tuesday. Likewise, these are not good days to start anything serious, as people’s minds will still be enjoying the last days of the long Dominican Christmas holidays.
