It’s official: as of 1 December, the tolls on the new highway from Santo Domingo to Punta Cana now add up to RD$330 for the round trip.
This total includes the usual RD$30 charged for crossing the toll station near Las Americas International Airport (east-west only) and the new highway tolls, RD$50 at Coral I (km 18) and another RD$100 at the Coral II toll (km 58) stations in both directions, according to a Public Works Ministry press advertisement. These rates are for cars, SUVs, pickups and microbuses. Minibuses, heavy goods vehicles and buses will pay higher tolls.
It now takes only half an hour to get from La Romana to Punta Cana on the Coral highway, making the drive about 2:30 hrs from Santo Domingo.
