Where to go for New Year’s Eve

The tradition in the Dominican Republic is to spend New Year’s Eve at family celebrations and then head out to discos, clubs, restaurants or gatherings on city avenues. Many families and groups of friends also take off for the resorts to celebrate the New Year and organize their own New Year’s Eve parties.

In Santo Domingo, expect to find large groups of people on Winston Churchill, Abraham Lincoln and Avenida del Puerto avenues, and on the Malecon, especially on Plaza Juan Baron.

The Colonial City’s Plaza de Espana restaurants are offering special menus for the evening.

Nader Teatro Bar is hosting an evening of electronic music with NYE Glitz N’Glam with DJs Miss Gem and Roberto Heyaime. Tickets are RD$2,500 with open bar included.

City hotels hold their own parties: Hotel El Embajador with Mozart La Para, Shelow Shaq and El Alfa with premium bar. Tickets for sale at Uepa Tickets.

At the Hotel Jaragua, Fernando Villalona, Raulin Rodriguez, Los Hermanos Rosario, Rubby Perez, Conjunto Quisqueya, Chiquito Team Band, David Amparo, and Steffany Constanza will be the grand finale dance for the year on Thursday, 31 December from 10pm.
