Santo Domingo has its own Whisky Bar, a joint venture between the Grupo de O.livia and Macallan whisky. The “W” Bar is a “speakeasy” bar with a whisky list of 120 varieties from Scotland, Ireland and the US state of Tennessee, as well as Japanese and Swedish brands. Erik Malmsten, executive chef and co-owner of Grupo de O.livia says it is a way of satisfying Dominican curiosity about the interesting world of whisky.
Rafael Rodriguez, brand ambassador for Macallan for the Dominican Republic says that patrons will find the most complete selection of Macallan whiskies at the bar, including Macallan Sherry Oak 12 Yrs., 1824 Series (Amber, Sienna, Ruby), to the Collection 1824 Masters Series (Rare Cask, Reflexion, No. 6 and M).
“W” is on Calle Max Henriquez Urena at the corner with Ave. Lope de Vega, next door to Restaurant O.livia. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday.
