30-year old Dominican Al Horford, four-time All Star Atlanta Hawks basketball player has accepted a four-year US$113 million max deal to play with the Boston Celtics. Horford had played the seven years of his career with the Atlanta Hawks.
Boston.com called the Horford deal a turning point for the Boston Celtics.
Boston Herald reported: “The money was no factor. Horford could have gotten that elsewhere. This was about him judging that the Celtics were a team on the rise that he wanted to play for. This was about him eschewing warmer cities and choosing Boston.”
There is speculation that Horford’s signing may pave the way for the Celtics signing of coveted Thunder star Kevin Durant.”
Horford is married to the Dominican Republic’s only Miss Universe, Amelia Vega with whom he has one son and a baby girl on the way.
