Two more high-ranking government officials have tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours. As reported, these are Deputy Minister of Public Health Fernando Ureña. Public Health Minister Plutarco Arias had tested positive last week and is recovering. Edith Febles, a journalist who had interviewed Dr. Arias has also now tested positive.
Ureña was hospitalized at the Union Médica clinic in Santiago, where Dr. Arias was also interned last week and is recovering satisfactorily.
The media reports that deputy Adalgisa Abreu (PRM-Santo Domingo) has also tested positive. Abreu is the wife of the director of the Passports Agency, Nestor Julio Cruz Pichardo who tested negative. The couple is in self-isolation at home following the Covid-19 protocol. All employees at the National Passports Agency were preventively tested for Covid-19 but all reported negative tests.
