American Airlines has opened a Charlotte-Samana flight in time for summer vacations. The flight is expected to revive US tourism in the northeastern tourist destination. Samaná is best known for its contrasting low hills and lovely beaches and for its gastronomy. The flight would start in June 2021.
The flight would be from the International Charlotte-Douglas Airport in North Carolina to the El Catey International Airport in Samana. The seasonal flight will be from 5 June through 14 August 2021. Flights to Punta Cana (PUJ) are already available from that airport.
The announcement was made by Oliver Bojos, director general of American Airlines for the Dominican Republic.
The flights will be on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2pm. Arrivals would be at 5:30pm on a Embraer 175 with capacity for 88 persons.
Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) is located in Charlotte, North Carolina, and is the primary airport for commercial and military use in the Charlotte metropolitan area. It is located roughly six miles from the city’s central business district. It is also a major American Airlines hub.
American announced that it has plans to increase from four to seven AA flights to Santiago (STI) and Santo Domingo (SDQ) from Miami.
American Airlines flies from the US to the airports of Las Americas International – Santo Domingo (SDQ), Punta Cana International (PUJ), Cibao International – Santiago (STI) and Gregorio Luperón International – Puerto Plata (POP). It connects to Miami (MIA), Dallas (DFW), Chicago (ORD and CHI), Boston ((BOS), Philadelphia (PHL), New York (JFK), Orlando (MCO), Tampa (TPA), Los Angeles (LAX) and Baltimore (BWI).
