Fire destroys Aro y Pedal bicycle store

The first Aro y Pedal bicycle store, located on 27 de Febrero Avenue, in the Don Bosco sector, was completely consumed by a strong fire, causing losses in the millions of pesos. No casualties were reported. To put out the fire, the fire department used more than 15 units and about 80 men. The store is located near the Centro Médico Otorrinolaringología.

“I have never experienced this situation; this is the first time this has happened to me. May God help us with all this,” said store owner Juan Luis Rodríguez, who for many years was also president of the Dominican Cycling Federation (Fedoci).

Social media reported how many of the neighbors helped remove the bicycles in time so these would not be consumed by the fire.

The fire occurs at a time when bicycle sales are on the increase.

The company has several branches in different parts of the country and specializes in the sale of bicycles and spare parts for these mounts. It recently had been remodeled.

General José Luis Frómeta Herasme, chief of the National District Fire Department, members of the Central Criminal Investigations Agency (Dicrim) of the National Police, and members of the Transit Security and Land Transportation Corps announced an investigation into the causes of the fire has begun.
