Samaná airport receives its first direct flight to Madrid; air arrivals forecast to surpass 500,000 in July

Air Europa flew into Samaná’s El Catey International Airport (AZS) bringing 270 Spanish tourists to vacation in Samaná resorts. Bahía Principe is the largest resort chain in the province, operated by a Spanish company. This is the first time a direct flight from Madrid arrives to the northeastern airport. Last month, El Catey received its first direct flights from Charlotte International Airport (CLT) in North Carolina in the United States.

President Luis Abinader, on tour of a new hotel construction in Punta Cana, forecasts air arrivals in July will surpass 500,000 this July. Air arrivals for June were more than 470,000.
