Fine Arts cinema festival focuses on Dominican films

Catch up on quality Dominican films at the Fine Arts International Film Festival (FICFA) at Novocentro on Av. Lope de Vega in Santo Domingo. The 11th edition is dedicated to independent Dominican cinema and will take place from 16 to 22 September 2021. Among the titles to be screened are: “Más que el agua”, “La Boya”, “Mosh”, “La rasante”, “Motel”, “Sinaliento”, “El blanco”, “Liborio”, “Candela”, “Santo Domingo” and “Malpaso.”

The telecommunications company Altice Dominicana and Caribbean Cinemas is going ahead with the Fine Arts International Film Festival, in their bet that people will return to watch movies at the movies.

“The reopening of our Fine Arts cinema, as well as the return of the film festival, marks an important moment for our company because of what Fine Arts represents for Dominican moviegoers,” said Zumaya Cordero, general director of Caribbean Cinemas and the festival. She explained that this year the programming of the festival honors Dominican cinema. She says many of the films have not been shown locally due to the pandemic.
