Physicians not taking ARS insurance plans

On 8 and 9 September 2021, patients seeing physicians affiliated to the Dominican Medical Association (CMD) will have to pay upfront for the service. The physicians will not be accepting the ARS medical plan coverage. Nevertheless, the ARS says the patients can submit for reimbursements.

The Dominican Medical Association (CMD) will not accept ARS insurance plans on 8 and 9 September as part of a movement to motivate the insurance companies to increase the pay to the doctors.

The National Council of Specialized Medical Societies is backing the call. The ARS have offered physicians an 11% increase in compensation that the medics say is too little. The medical societies complain medical fees are very much the same since 2007. The strike affects both public and private medical services.
