Dominican Republic participates in Qatar Travel Mart

The Ministry of Tourism and the Dominican Embassy in Qatar represented the Dominican Republic at Qatar Travel Mart, Qatar’s tourism business platform. Qatar is promoting itself as a connecting point for the Middle East, Gulf countries and Central Asia. The fair took place from 16 to 18 November 2021.

The stand presented tourism lodging and attractions, and highlights of the Dominican culture and people, nature, arts and crafts.

Present for the opening was His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Affairs.

The country’s ambassador to Qatar, George Bahsa Hazim; Alexandra Streltsova, OPT Central Asia concurrent director for Turkey and Gulf Countries; and Marcial Smester, investment director of ProDominicana were at the stand to receive visitors.

After the official opening, senior officials from several countries represented at the fair visited the Ministry of Tourism stand.

This week, the Civil Aviation Board signed a new aviation agreement that enables Emirates Airline and Etihad Airways to fly to the Dominican Republic and to carry out codeshare flights.
