Real GDP grows by 6.9%

The Central Bank has announced that the real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 6.9% during the period January-September 1996. Monetary supply up by 7.1%

The amount of currency in circulation (M1), made up by the money in circulation and the deposits held in current accounts at the commercial banks, stood at RD$20,596.6 million, as of 30 September 1996. This balance reflects an increase of RD$1,953.0 million (10.5%) over the RD$18,643.6 million at the end of December 1995.
