Paraiso Cano Hondo is located on the East Coast of the
Dominican Republic, on Samana’s Bay, close to Los Haitises National Park, one of
the most important ecological and cultural reserve of the Country. This small
Eco-Lodge offer an special contact with nature along with beautiful surroundings
of waterfall cascades created with crystalline river water.

28 Rooms distributed in three beautiful buildings: Cano
Hondo and Ceyba Jivales, with garden view an inside the river surroundings and
the new (Open December 2007) Altos de Cano Hondo, 16 rooms with impressive view
to Los Haitises National Park and Samana’s Bay. All rooms are decorated in a
rustic style with native elements of the zone. From all of them you can enjoy
the river sound and the waterfalls.

Excursions offered:
- The National Park “Los Haitises”, including visits
to the largest mangroves reserve in the Caribbean, beautiful Caves like La
Arena, Willy, La Linea or San Gabriel. The spectacular Cave of La Linea, is
also called “The Temple” due to large amount of pictographs and petroglyphs
made by the aborigines called Tainos.
- The Humpback Whales of Samana Sanctuary (January
to March).
- Hiking and Walks through the Walks of “Caňo
Hondo”, a path which can be reached by climbing a mountain with an
spectacular aerial view of Los Haitises or “Los Haitises Humid Forest Path”,
a walk of 4.9 Kms. across this National Park were visitors may observe
endemic species of plants and birds. Guide services upon request are
available.
- Bird watching Excursions to “Cayo Los Pajaros”,
the “Bird Key” or to Trepada Alta, singular place for watching the specie of
the Hispaniola Hawk (Ridgeway Hawk).
- Climbing Wall in a Natural “Mogote” and Kayacking
Tours inside the Mangrovies Reserve at Los Haitises National Park.
How to get there:
By car or bus 3 hours from Santo Domingo or Bavaro-Punta
Cana.
From Santo Domingo, take the East Highway, through San
Pedro, Hato Mayor, Sabana de la Mar. In Sabana de la Mar, nine Kms. in the Road
to Los Haitises is located Paraiso Cano Hondo.
From Bavaro-Punta Cana, take the road through Higuey,
El Seybo, Hato Mayor and finally, Sabana de la Mar..
