On 17 March 2025, the Second Collegiate Court of the National District rejected a request by Alexis Medina Sánchez, Magaly Medina Sánchez, and 11 other defendants in the Anti-Pulpo case, seeking to dismiss criminal charges against them. The Central Electoral Board (JCE) continues to socialize its plans to issue a new ID card. The president of the JCE Roman Andres Jaquez Liranzo met with the Conference of the Dominican Episcopate (CED), the hierarchy of the Roman Catholic Church. Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, announced on Wednesday, 26 March 2025 that security in the Bavaro area known as El Hoyo de Friusa has been strengthened with the deployment of over 100 personnel from the Armed Forces and the National Police, who are now patrolling the area as part of a permanent operation, as reported in Noticias SIN.

Coinciding with the militarizing of the El Hoyo de Friusa in Bavaro, the Haitian government has announced a ban on the entry of foreign goods through the Dominican Republic, a measure set to take effect along the entire border starting Monday, 7 April 2025, as reported in El Dia.
According to an official circular from Haiti’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, signed by Minister Alfred Fils Metellus, foreign goods will only be allowed to enter Haiti by sea, under the control of national customs authorities.
This decision directly impacts the traditional overland trade flow at major border points between the two countries, such as Dajabón, Elías Piña, Jimaní, and Pedernales. The National Vehicle Retention Center (Cenarve), a project under the Ministry of Housing (Mived), has begun operations on the Santo Domingo bypass in West Santo Domingo. There are still ongoing constructions and furbishings going on at the site. This facility aims to replace the vehicle retention depot on Monumental Avenue, infamously known as El Coco Canodrome.

The National Transport and Transit Institute (Intrant) has begun to carry out aleatory doping and alcoholic level tests to public transport drivers. The director of Intrant, Milton Morrison, says that the authorities will retain the licenses of those who test positive. Morrison says the intention is to extend the tests to motorcyclists and other vehicle drivers.
Transport syndicate owner, senator for Santiago Rodriguez province, Antonio Marte, has said that if drivers were tested, several public transport routes would have to be discontinued.

Tourists staying in the Cabo Rojo resort area will be about 100 meters from the Cabo Rojo beach, but also a short boat trip from the Bahia de las Aguilas, the main draw of the southwestern area. The president of the board of the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel), Guido Gómez Mazara has confirmed that the technical aspects of blocking cell phone calls from prisons have been resolved, as part of a joint effort with the Office of the Attorney General.
Mazara asserted that this measure will curb the increase in criminal activities originating from prisons, explaining that 36% of thefts involve cell phones, and 90% of fraudulent calls are made from prisons using stolen phones. “I guarantee the country that this year, the blocking of cell phone calls from prisons will be resolved, as we are already checking [the system], but we cannot disclose which prisons,” Mazara stated during an interview with Pablo McKinney on his program “McKinney,” broadcast on Color Visión, Channel 9.

The United States Embassy issued a notice on 21 March 2025 indicating the temporary suspension of passport and notary services at the Punta Cana Consular Agency in the province of La Altagracia. The office was opened to serve the millions of US tourists who travel to Punta Cana resorts every year. The reason for the suspension is not given.
In the notice, the US Embassy says that interested customers can make appointments for these services at the US Embassy in Santo Domingo or the Puerto Plata Consular Agency via the US Embassy website.

Garcia was an actor, high school and university professor of acting and creativity, narrator and media professional. He is best known for his excellence in acting, writing and directing theater.
