Renovacion, founded in 1928 by citizens committed to Puerto Plata, continues to this day to devote itself to the education of new generations of Puerto Plata's citizens through its public library, the most organized one of its kind in the city. Likewise, the society annually organizes many contests and events to foster culture in Puerto Plata.
