Playa Dorada is about to show off a new entrance. Architect Sara Garcia, Puerto Plata-born and current resident, has chosen elements native to the region for the facelift that will replace the present arcade which dates back to the 70s. The construction begins this summer and promises to provide a more tropical welcome to those that arrive as of this fall.

Large pergolas will be part of the renovation and the new proportion of the walls will clearly suggest that behind them lies a grand 14-hotel community. The new gateway will bid you to enter and personalize the perspective of the park within.

Garcia's vision is to add to the greenness of the interior gardens. Palms, coconuts, clay and limestone are to be used to give a rustic, natural appearance to the portal. 'The gate will create a unity with the materials that have been extensively used all along the North Coast for the large hotels and exclusive neighborhoods," said the architect.

The gate will be decorated with colorful bougainvillea and will bring water into play. 'The sound of the waters will be heard from the start," said Garcia.
