will take hikers past La Culata (known for its pre-Hispanic cave art), Los Rodriguez and then to the popular campsite of
the Valle del Tetero at 1,500 meters (4,921 feet). From Constanza, multiple-day excursions to other points in the Armando
Bermudez and Jose del Carmen Ramirez national parks can also be arranged.
Constanza’s abundantly fertile valley and its temperatures so uncharacteristic of the Caribbean are responsible for a
great part of the nation’s ornamental flowers and plants. In addition, the Constanza Valley supplies the country’s potatoes,
carrots, cabbage, lettuce, celery, garlic and strawberries whose size and lusciousness are without compare. The town has
its own specialties, such as celery root made into a puree, as many years of farmers migrating from places as far away
as Japan and Spain have left their mark on the industriousness and character of the town and its people.
Without doubt, for all of those for whom the Caribbean signifies fabulous beaches and tropical coconut trees, Constanza
will come as a surprise. Those who venture up the breathtaking road, however, will forever treasure their exhilarating
encounter with the Caribbean’s beauty among the clouds.
