Playa Dorada is an important part of Rafi Vasquez’s life. He was the winner of a contest
to realize the landscaping designs of the Playa Dorada resort, a collaborative effort with
the course’s architect, Robert Trent Jones. The Playa Dorada golf course bears Rafi’s stamp
in the venerable palm trees, which, in a minimalist style, delineate the roads. His touch
is inimitable. In addition to the soaring palms, the artist called on mahogany trees, sea
grapes, almond trees, giant hibiscus, coconut trees and the majestic poincianas to trace
the steps of the golfer.
At the Playa Dorada golf course, Rafi gives golfers a nice surprise at Hole No. 9, the most
photographed section of the course, with its impressive view of the Loma de Isabel de Torres.
Hole No. 15 is where golfers stumble upon a tropical forest, near the end of the course.
