Las Terrenas: Las Palmas al Mar

Does anyone have first hand info of Hotel Las Palmas al Mar. We've stayed in LT on the other beach (West of Town) twice. Now wonder about Las Palmas for next Feb-Mar. But what about traffic noise -- being on the "highway"? Also general comments on the place would be appreciated.

Did not stay, but we visit the place for reference(March 06). On the front is
a parking lot, quite big, then is the reception and after that is the grounds
with 6 villas and 2 apartments per villa. Apartments are big, I mean BIG, you
could accommodate to sleep 3 couples, for two of us was not feasible to rent
such a large place. Place is spotless clean, decorated Caribbean style with
bright colors, if you are with a big family is worth it. We see the last villa
and was no noise from the road as I recall.

We drove to Las Galeras and rent a room in a villa at 1/3 of the price of Las
Palmas al Mar.

CONCERNING LAS PALMAS AL MAR

Lived there for a long period. Clean, Great staff, Secure, A villa in the back is quiet and calm, well kept gardens, etc. A-bit noisey on big Dominican weekends (but, where is it not ?) If your nice, they bend over backwards for you. Voila !!.

Thanks folks -- that was just the sort of first-hand info I was looking for. We'll be two couples next Feb or Mar, and it'll be the other couple's first time to the DR or anywhere Caribbean. We want them to have no surprises.
