Just wondering the date of the big Carnival parade in La Vega.

We are planning a trip from Luperon to Monte Cristi this weekend. Any ideas what the roads are like? We want to go along the coast, through Punta Rucia, not hwy 1. I have heard there has been flooding and slides, but can't get a confirmation. Any info would be appreciated. Diana

I am thinking about going to Bayahibe this weekend (Oct. 22) and wonder about getting there. Is there still a 2-3 hour wait for the ferry? Diana

Where can one see the whales from shore, without getting in a boat and disrupting the migration? If you know a spot where they come close by, let me know!

Anyone know anything about the roads bewteen Santo Domingo and the Perdenales Peninsula? Do we need a four wheel drive to get to the Tarzan house? What is the road like up to Laguna Enriquillo?

We are newly relocated to the D.R. and were planning to take a road trip (This Thursday, Sept. 24-Sunday, Sept. 27) from Santo Domingo, through Bayahibe, and along the coast up to Miches. Can anyone give us a road report? Is this trip feasible after Jeanne?
