Hi,
I'm coming to Boca Chica on vacation next month. Any tips on whta to do where to go? I'm like taking photos, eating good seafood and would like to visit a local disco.
Any tips on where to stay and ideas of what to do would be great.
I like small hotels with a nice laid back vibe.

How long in Boca Chica? be prepared for hearing the negatives. Boca is small not at ton to do other than lie on the beach. The beach sellers can be annoying.
It is usually preferred for chica hunting which is by far secondary to Sosua.
If you want a decent cheap hotel on the beach. I have stayed and met an Italian family that is right in the center of the main beach-has its own beachfront and outdoor restaurant. Onlt a 4 room hotel. Bare essentials plus a/c- Rooms are i think 40/night max.
Not sure the name but the owner is Mario(helpful guy) is chica friendly from what he says( i didnt try). Not sure if i can post his email or number, so PM me if interested.

Boca Chica in a Nutshell

Beach is great. A bit expensive, foodwise. Many small hotels near the beach.
Avoid JOKER HOTEL--says 5 minute walk to beach--more like 30 minutes if you care to risk getting robbed. Stay close to the beach and enjoy yourself.
Saludos!

Boca isn't that nice to be honest, although I expect it depends on who you are and why you are visiting.
Apart from the beach (some like it, I personally think it is filthy and not the idillic industrial Caribbean view:ermm:) very little to do during the day, but that equates to most holiday destinations I expect.
Be wary of where you stay, if you find yourself in a 'guest friendly' hotel then be prepared with something to clean yourself down every morning as it isn't unusual to pick up a few unwanted joyriders in the form of sexually transmitted nasties or just outright filth nasties.
Be wary of the restaurants, many of them don't note the taxes they add on and you can expect your bill to come in at double or more than what you expected. I've had a few confrontations with restaurants there after they have tried charging me silly prices for usually very cheap food and drinks, and not charging the advertised price.

People knock Sosua but if Boca is the type of vacation you want then consider Sosua seriously, it has it in the bag hands down in terms of restaurants, bars, beach and quality of girls, even popping down the road to Cabarete during the day makes for a nice change and plenty to photograph there. If this is what you are looking for then I'd even consider jumping on a bus and relocating to the Sosua side.

I must agree with Anastacio,

I try to keep my fingers from typing unless I have something nice to say BUT, I think the truth is the nicest thing to offer someone who hasnt been to a certain place before. I was just at Boca Chica in November of 09', it is not all that nice or comfortable. It is CERTAINLY NOT PRISTINE and at just feels seedy to me. You may want to look for another area. Just what I observed.

Boca Chica, Dominican Republic
its all depends on what kind of vacation your lookin for?
i have a small house in montra entre a lil north of the beach.i try to get down to boca chica every 2 to 3 months.i love boca chica it kind of grows on ya.
there are many decent 30 to 40 dollar hotels a few blocks off from the beach.for a lil more u can stay at the better ones which are posted all thru these forums.
thier right about not much besides whats around the beach unless ya had a trusty guide.there are many lil towns like hato viejo if ya like chillin in the country and sippin on some presidentes.el gaga will be here next month.u'll see alot of people in the streets dressed up in costumes dancing down the streets.very beautiful parades.u have the capital very close.juan dolio, casa del campo in la romana, the church in higuey.sosua is nice without a doubt but i love more relaxing carefree days spent in that little town of boca chica.
you can come over to my house and the old lady can fix ya up a plate of some authentic dominican food.a la bandera dish with mangu on the side w/ salsa on top.jonni cakcak with chicken.salad and beans and a glass of jugo de china......man i cant wait to get back next week!!!

if you do decide to stay in boca chica, here's the recipe:
1. hang around the beach during the day and do Santo domingo at night.
2. do Santo domingo during the day and have a crack at BC nightlife.
3. go to Juan dolio during the day and santo domingo at night.
4. consider a stay in santo domingo 1/2 nights and visit BC, juan dolio, etc.
5. stay at the El Candil...

Did you make a reservation at Boca Chica already?

Hi,
I'm coming to Boca Chica on vacation next month. Any tips on whta to do where to go? I'm like taking photos, eating good seafood and would like to visit a local disco.
Any tips on where to stay and ideas of what to do would be great.

If you already made reservations in Boca Chica, I would say enjoy the beach during the day and if you are staying at a all-inclusive in Boca Chica-they have nightclubs within the hotel complex.
If you did not book your hotel reservations I would stay in Juan Dolio. The beach is nicer. Are you looking to see the beautiful taino caves, other beaches, and view the Dominican country-side? Respond to this post and I can provide you with a awesome guide----( my American son is there working for the director of the company)....

there are 2 good places that share a nice pool and is close to the beach and main street , Mario owns the place called mango , they have a bar that stays open almost all nightand you can get snacks and food of sort almost anytime , but he charges about 35 night for a small room with out air conditioning 5 extra for air , on the other side bruno has apartments and depending on how long you stay can probably get the apartment as thats all he has for about 40 45 night with air , hes a better deal , mario for the same apt wants like 55 65 night when you go talk to bruno first , they share the same gated parking and pool and he has nice apts , I used to like mango but brunos is the real deal in town. stock the fridge up, beer soda snaks etc and save a bundle cause all that service mario offers comes at a preimium price
