garante for the provisional residency

Hi all,
I have now got all my papers ready for the residency here in the DR. Only thing I need is a guarantee - any one who can help me? I do have friends and contacts here, but not that close that I wish to ask for that kind of favor..
At Imigration a young man offered to help, but I am not sure if that would be in a legal way and I do not want to risk anything with my papers here!

We just recently checked into this as well. The one lawyer we spoke with said he does not do the guarantor thing but that you can hire someone for $150 US. The lawyer we`ve chosen to go with said they are always the clients guarantor. It just depends on which law firm you go with.
