The DR is my favourite vacation spot and I have visted several times. I went to Las Terrenas for the first time this winter and was twice offered a complimentary drink at a couple of retauranhts at the end of my meal called a chupita, a drink that I had never encountered before in the DR. I was told that it is a mix of gin and rum but it was very spicy and I tasted flavours such as ginger in one of the concoctions. One restuarant called it "chupita de casa" so I believe that every establishment may have its own recipe. Can anyone offer any further info on this? I did not encounter it anywhere else in the DR. Is it something unique to Las Terrenas or the Samana peninsula?

Sounds like a good drink but no restaurant has ever offered me a Chupita after years of living in Dominicana
